NGC 7380 is a young open cluster of stars in the northern circumpolar constellation of Cepheus.
The cluster spans ~20 light-years with an elongated shape and an extended tail. Age estimates range from 4 to 11.9 million years. At the center of the cluster lies DH Cephei, a close, double-lined spectroscopic binary system consisting of two massive O-type stars. This pair are the primary ionizing source for the surrounding H II region, and are driving out the surrounding gas and dust while triggering star formation in the neighboring region.@wiki
NGC 7380 est un jeune amas ouvert d’étoiles situé dans la constellation circumpolaire nord de Céphée.
L’amas s’étend sur ~20 années-lumière avec une forme allongée et une queue étendue. Les estimations d’âge vont de 4 à 11,9 millions d’années. Au centre de l’amas se trouve DH Cephei, un système binaire spectroscopique quasi-double composé de deux étoiles massives de type O. Ces étoiles sont la principale source d’ions. Ces étoiles sont la principale source d’ionisation de l’amas. Cette paire est la principale source d’ionisation dans la région H II environnante, chassant le gaz et la poussière environnants tout en déclenchant la formation d’étoiles dans la région environnante.@wiki
