Caldwell 12, also known as NGC 6946 or Fire Wheel Galaxy, is a fascinating spiral galaxy in the constellation Cepheus. It is about 22.5 million light-years from Earth. Particularly noteworthy is its exceptionally high rate of supernova explosions, which has earned it the nickname “Firewheel Galaxy”.
Caldwell 12, également connue sous le nom de NGC 6946 ou galaxie du Feu d’artifice, est une fascinante galaxie spirale située dans la constellation de Céphée. Elle se trouve à environ 22,5 millions d’années-lumière de la Terre. Elle est particulièrement remarquable pour son taux exceptionnellement élevé d’explosions de supernovae, ce qui lui a valu le surnom de “galaxie du Feu d’artifice”.
