Sh2-157 is a weak emission nebula, but of considerable visible extension in the constellation of Cassiopea; it is located by the arm of Perseo . The northern part of the cloud has a ring-shaped shape, caused by the action of the stellar wind of several giant stars, while the southern part appears excited by the luminous radiation of the stars of spectral class O.
Sh2-157 est une nébuleuse à faible émission, mais de taille visible considérable dans la constellation de Cassiopée; elle est située sur le bras de Perséo. La partie nord du nuage a une forme annulaire causée par l’influence du vent de plusieurs étoiles géantes, tandis que la partie sud semble stimulée par le rayonnement lumineux des étoiles de la classe spectrale O.
